PEXA Group Corporate Website

How a bleeding-edge Australian tech company found a global corporate home

Touching nearly every property transaction in Australia today, PEXA Exchange is a world-first digital property settlement platform that has forever changed the property tech landscape. And, like any fast-growing and revolutionary tech brand, the PEXA Group’s digital needs were also changing at pace. They required a new global corporate site that could deliver everything from investor information to new partnerships, to careers information, all in one ultra-secure hub. With vast experience in taking a high-level and strategic approach to digital projects, V.I. was the perfect digital agency to take on the task.

THE CHALLENGE

Build a new digital home for a property game-changer.

As a growing leader in property tech solutions, PEXA Group needed to split out its corporate online presence from the PEXA Exchange property transaction brand site. Now an ASX-listed company, the PEXA Group required a strong corporate brand presence to provide essential information for investors, employees, and the wider public which allowed for their future global expansion. The challenge for V.I. was to not only design and build a beautiful, user-friendly site that elevated the PEXA Group in the eyes of corporate investors and future talent, but one that provided uncompromising security and could be easily managed ongoing by PEXA’s marketing team.

THE APPROACH

Analyse, strategise, collaborate, create.

A complex website redevelopment for an enterprise tech group requires strategic thinking, research and planning to ensure the solution goes above and beyond. V.I. worked closely with the PEXA team to determine the corporate site requirements and develop a framework. We then designed a custom website that built upon PEXA’s existing design vernacular. After conducting extensive audit and usage needs analysis, we selected platform and hosting products that would deliver maximum functionality and best-in-breed security, while allowing non-technical users to deploy content themselves via CMS.

THE OUTCOME

A seamless transition to a corporate home that fits.

V.I.’s expertise in bespoke digital solutions for enterprise-level brands led the development process that allowed the PEXA Group corporate site to be carefully crafted within tight timeframes while delivering best-practice security and brand outcomes. Our attention to SEO throughout the process resulted in a successful transition with no negative impact on search rankings. We also achieved significant improvements in Google Lighthouse reporting, further enhancing the site’s performance and user experience, and built a low-cost platform that could be easily managed and deployed by non-technical employees.

A COMPLETE RENOVATION

V.I. was engaged early on in the project, working closely with PEXA to define the communication and technical requirements. We collaborated closely with key departments to determine their specific needs, and conducted usage analysis of the current site.

Our team also audited the current site, categorising content by type, user, and engagement to determine what should be migrated from the old site to the new. This process allowed us to see what content was being used more frequently and helped identify potential gaps in the content architecture.

Based on this research, we developed a new information architecture (I.A.) and concept designs. These designs were then workshopped with the project team and tested with customers in one-on-one interviews.

PHOTOGRAPHY

To promote the positive and collaborative workplace culture and support the new site design V.I. was commissioned to complete new corporate photography as part of the project.

A COLLABORATIVE APPROACH TO DESIGN

PEXA’s design team had already developed an extensive design system for their customer apps and corporate brand guidelines, and we built upon it rather than recreating it. As the new corporate site required more ‘brochure-like’ components, we leveraged smaller-particle elements from the PEXA design system. This was augmented with larger modular components capable of accommodating more substantial amounts of content.

The final system features a reusable set of components and content modules that can be easily dragged and dropped via the CMS interface, ensuring ease of use for all team members, regardless of technical ability. To ensure smooth collaboration between developers and designers, we used Figma and Storybook for all UI components.

ASX DATA FEEDS

As a listed company, giving timely updates of share performance, ASX notices and reporting were a given. We integrated a lightweight solution from Your Investor Relations. Their components were integrated into Next.js and Storybook Components. These components were then added to various page templates and modules for PEXA staff to use throughout the site.

TOP-TIER TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION

Given that PEXA offers enterprise products to the legal and finance industry, it was crucial to propose a high-performance, secure solution that showcased their best-in-breed approach to technology. After careful consideration, we recommended using Next.js as the framework for the site. Its proven ability to handle large volumes of pages, flexible API routing, and the option to render pages either server-side or client-side made it the ideal choice for the project.

Hosting was handled by Staticly on AWS, with an automated build pipeline ensuring efficient deployment processes.

To manage content, we selected WordPress as the CMS, as it offers a low-cost, user-friendly, and widely adopted solution. However, instead of running WordPress on the production environment, it was configured to run headlessly in an IP-restricted environment where non-technical staff could edit and preview content. When content milestones are completed the site can then be deployed to the static Next.js production environment with a single click, directly from the CMS platform, all by nontechnical marketing staff.

MARKETING AUTOMATION INTEGRATION

With an established Marketo account and existing automated communications and flows, seamless integration of Marketo throughout the site was essential. To achieve this, we developed a custom form module in React, which interacts with the Marketo API to retrieve the form fields, types, and labels. The form module enabled non-technical users to embed JavaScript Marketo forms into the CMS wherever required, with assurance that the styling of these forms would seamlessly inherit the design of the Next.js site.
